Sixth formers from The Oak Sixth Form in Melksham, part of The White Horse Federation, are celebrating their A level and vocational qualifications results today.

To help ensure all students were as prepared as possible for their exams, Melksham has developed a strong focus on attendance and high standards of consistent effort through tutor mentoring. The Class of 2026 have performed fantastically with an overall pass rate of 99%, and A*-B of 58%, constituting the best results for the school in the last five years and initial reports show that Melksham students make above national average progress.

Some of the standout results include:

  • Bella Cousins with one A*, one Distinction*, and one B going on to study Sports management Coaching at University of Bath. Bella has been a real credit to The Oak Sixth Form and wider school, she regular volunteers to support school events and has regularly helped in the PE department.
  • George Hayward with three A’s and one B going on to study Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University. George is a prime example of how hard work is always worth it. George has worked with rigour and energy throughout his years at The Oak and has smashed the statistical prediction by 5 grades!
  • Ellen Harrold with one A* and two B’s. Ellen has been accepted to train as a Police Officer starting in September. Ellen has been an exceptional student with a strong work ethic and responsibility. I am excited to see her support her community in this essential role!
  • Amy Perry with one A*, two A’s, and one B going on to study Law at University of Birmingham, with the aspiration of eventually being a barrister.
  • Skye Maddock who received an A in Sociology amongst her three passes. Skye has persevered through a variety of challenges, and we are so proud of her results. Skye has gained a place for September 2027 to study SEN Education at University of Gloucester, until then she will be working as Teaching Assistant in a local school.

Associate Headteacher, Abbie Clark said:

"These are our best A-Level results for many years, and we are incredibly proud of our students. Their hard work, determination and resilience as well as the unwavering commitment of our staff and the support of our families has been rewarded with an excellent set of outcomes. We have seen outstanding performance across a number of subjects including Biology, Criminology, Economics, Maths, Sociology and the Extended Project Qualification, reflecting both academic excellence and students' wider intellectual curiosity. These results reflect not only academic achievement but also the strength of our school community and our shared belief that every student can succeed. They open doors to an exciting range of university courses, apprenticeships and careers, and we look forward to following their future successes."

David Cooper, Executive Headteacher, said:

“I am incredibly proud of all our students and the achievements they have worked so hard to attain. Although we will be sad to see them leave, today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their success and recognise all they have accomplished. As they embark on the next stage of their journey, whether in employment, training or university, we wish them every success and look forward to seeing all that they will achieve in the future.”
