On Monday 2nd March, it’s the day many parents and carers have been waiting for: National Allocation Day. On this day, offers for secondary school places are sent to parents and carers of children in year 6.
At Melksham Oak, we understand that this is a crucial time in every young person’s development. By working together with local primary schools, we ensure that there is a strong link between our year 7 curriculum and what our new students have been learning in primary school.
We are aided in this endeavour by the fact that many local primary schools, including Forest & Sandridge, The Manor, Bowerhill, Seend, and St George’s in Semington, are also members of The White Horse Federation.
While every new student will be joining a large school community, each young person at Melksham Oak is given individual support, advice, and guidance during their time at the school.
Recently, we instituted our new behaviour policy, ‘The Melksham Oak Way’. By setting clear expectations that everyone has to follow, and by straightforwardly explaining the consequences of poor behaviour, we have established a positive learning environment where our students are able to thrive.
Through the reinforcement of our core values, we nurture confident young learners who are resilient, tolerant of others, proud of their own achievements, and determined to be the best they possibly can be.
To secure your child’s place at our fantastic school, make sure to accept your offer before 16th March. For those who did not receive an offer of a place at Melksham Oak Community School, there is still time to appeal.
To all the new students starting at Melksham Oak in September, we can’t wait to welcome you to our school community.
