I would like to congratulate all our year 11s who have received their GCSE results today.
The conclusion of Key Stage 4 is an important stage in every young person’s education and our students have demonstrated great resilience and determination throughout the most challenging of circumstances. From challenging lockdowns and remote learning through to periods of self-isolation, our students have remained focused and determined to succeed. For that, I am proud of each and every one of them and all that they have achieved.
We have seen some great success stories today, and I would like to give a special mention to the following students who achieved exceptional results – Esme Dannett, Jack Meakin, Hope Millard, Abbie Roger, Molly Gwyn, Poppy Gutcher-Dunn, Ella Clarke and Olivia Williams.
It’s also important today to recognise the hard work and dedication shown by our staff throughout the last eighteen months, and of course, the support of our parents, without which we would not be where we are today.
Going forward, we are excited to welcome our new sixth formers in September who will be the first to experience our new facilities on site. In particular, we are looking forward to finally being able to offer our sixth form students a dedicated state of the art space for learning and socialising separate from the main school, something our students have long been waiting for.
Sixth form students will also benefit from a dedicated area including two science labs, a new common room, and a study room. A new cafeteria will also open catering for all students.
Therefore, we were delighted to be in a position to hand out today’s results in our new facility, which really added to the occasion and gave those students staying with us a taste of what to expect in September.
Students can access support or advice about Melksham Oak Sixth Form or other post-16 options by contacting Mr Phillips at: [email protected] to arrange a call back or face-to-face meeting with our careers manager, Mrs. Penny.
We believe all our students have bright futures ahead of them and we are here to support them in the coming weeks, whether they are joining sixth form or choosing a different path.
Once again well done and enjoy the rest of your summer break!
Alan Henderson, Principal
