Duke of Edinburgh Awards Evening

13 February 2019
Duke of Edinburgh Awards Evening

This week we ran an Awards evening for all of the students that took part in and completed their DofE award over the last 12 months.

The evening was brilliantly attended by students and parents and certificates were handed out to nearly 50 students. To complete the award the students must learn a new skill, volunteer and take part in a physical activity. They must do each of these for an hour a week for up to 6 months.

Over the last 12 months Melksham Oak DofE Students have volunteered over 600 hours in the local community and they have learnt many new skills including: driving, cooking and speaking a language. On top of this they must complete a 2 or 3 day expedition where they are fully self-sufficient – navigating for themselves, carrying all of their kit and cooking their own food.

A huge well done to all of the students who completed and took part in the award; also a big thank you to the parents and staff at Melksham Oak who make this possible.
