Duke of Edinburgh

Melksham Oak School offers students the chance to get involved in a range of exciting and challenging scenarios at three different levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Twelve year 10 students at the former George Ward School recently achieved their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. They received their Awards from HRH Duke of Edinburgh at a special ceremony at Lackham College to celebrate 50 years of the scheme.

The students completed two day walks and a practise weekend expedition, as well as attending many evening sessions. In addition to the expedition the students had to complete three other activities over a 6 month period. These activities involved learning a new skill, improving their level of physical fitness and participating in a community service.
