7N History trip to Bristol Harbour side
On Wednesday 24th April 2018, the Year 7 Nurture group went on a trip to Bristol Harbour side.
As part of their current history topic, students discovered more about how Bristol was involved in the transatlantic slave trade. The students visited the M Shed to find out about the numbers involved in the trade, along with the types of cargo transported from place to place. In addition, students looked at the shocking conditions that the slaves were subjected to during their voyage across the Middle Passage en-route to the Americas.
After lunch we explored the SS Great Britain, experiencing what life would have been like for the passengers on board this great ship and learning about its construction and use during its lifetime of service.
