Performing Arts Team

ml_av_laura jonesLaura Rossiter - Head of Performing Arts - On Maternity Leave

I have been working at Melksham Oak School since September 2010 and have been spoilt by all of the amazing resources I have at my fingertips for creating drama. It is wonderful to be working in a school so well equipped for my subject. The school promotes school educational visits to the theatre and creates excellent quality performance of its own to build a well-rounded appreciation of drama and performing arts.

I have a guilty pleasure for cheesy musicals and love to ogle at the fantastic sets and costumes that are on at the shows in the West End. I fullfilled a life time ambition to go to a Broadway Musical when we took 28 students to NYC on a school visit. We are also well on the way to developing our third bi-annual Melksham Oak Community School musical!

I most enjoy thinking of new and exciting topics for us to explore through drama and seeing learners develop confidence and creative ideas in my studio.

Tamsin Crook - Danceml_av_tamsincrook

I trained in both dance and drama and have always been passionate about the arts. I started teaching at school in 2007 and spent 6 years teaching performing arts in colleges and schools in Somerset. I spent a few years performing professionally in a Somerset based Dance Theatre company before taking this post, which took me to lots of different parts of the country as well as a trip to Prague.

Education still played a major part during my time in the company and I decided to completely return to teaching as I realised that combining performing arts and teaching was the perfect mix for me. I am lucky enough to teach in the best space in the school in the shape of the dance studio and the students love the space as much

as I do.

Emily Goodall - Teacher of Drama and Performing Arts

It is not often you find a job where you can combine your hobby with work. I feel so lucky to be able to spend every day sharing my love of the performing arts with the students I teach. I have been dancing since I was five years old specialising in tap and ballet and then went on to complete my degree in Dance Studies, specialising in ballet and contemporary dance at The University of Roehampton.

When I am not dancing you can find me training for many of the demanding sporting events I have completed, including half marathons and a triathlon.
