Drama at Melksham Oak Community School is a based on a practical approach to exploring a whole range of styles and forms of theatre and getting a really solid grasp on the foundation of what has built and continues to develop theatre today.
Drama promotes a whole range of core skills that are invaluable for life as well as subject specific. We believe in practical experimentation and developing critical analysis.
Students will be taught to:
- Use a variety of dramatic conventions to explore ideas, issues, texts and meanings;
- Use different ways to convey action, character, atmosphere and tension in scripting and performing plays.
- Appreciate how the structure and organisation of scenes and plays contribute to dramatic effect;
- Evaluate critically the intentions and performance of dramas in which they have participated or have watched.
Students are taught to be thinkers and doers in drama and effort is definitely the best tool to bring to the studio!
