We have a dedicated team of Cover Supervisors who work closely with all staff to cover lessons for absent colleagues, whether through illness or planned absence.
This minimises the impact on students when their regular teacher is not in the room, and ensures a great degree of continuity in their education. Our cover supervisors are as committed a group as any other members of staff, and collaboratively plan lessons with teaching colleagues to provide all our students with learning opportunities which contribute fully to their progress.
Jackie Roost - Cover Supervisor
I have been a Cover Supervisor for 4 years and in that time have seen many changes. The school has gone from strength to strength and I have really enjoyed being part of a thriving, progressive school.
I enjoy my role immensely as it is very varied and challenging.
I am originally from Hertfordshire but did spend some time in America. I now live locally and in my spare time enjoy exercising and attempting to dance and sing - much to the amusement and embarrassment of my husband and son!
Anika Butler-Wyatt - Cover Supervisor
I started at Melksham Oak as a cover supervisor in Jan 2013 after a six year break from teaching. Prior to that I had been a support worker for people with physical disabilities, a job I loved and found very rewarding. I trained in primary education at the University of Wales, Cardiff and worked at my old junior school in Westbury for 5 years after receiving my degree in 2000. Coming to MOCS has been a very positive move for me, although I was initially apprehensive about making the transition from primary to secondary. I have been lucky enough to have been given some incredible career opportunities during my time here, including a year of teaching English and a 9 month secondment at a partner school, The Manor. I am a strong advocate for the hard work and dedication I see at the Oak; I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by such passionate teachers and support staff who put their students at the heart of everything they do. My own children attend here and are all successful, secure and happy.
My home life revolves completely around my family. My husband and I have three teenagers between us, making our life very busy, entertaining and sometimes challenging! We spend a lot of time with our wider family, taking regular trips to our holiday home in Cornwall with our two little dogs, Rufus and Teddy.
Jessica Brown - Cover Supervisor
My original focus when I left school was Early Years. I graduated from Norland College in 2003 and continued to work within Early Years for a number of years before moving on to work in a Residential Children’s Home; I thoroughly enjoyed this challenging yet rewarding job and wanted to continue working with Yong People long term. I worked there until I had my first child and moved temporarily into Part Time work, until my second child started school.
My spare time is all focused on my children and when I do get a spare moment to myself my main hobbies are Life Casting, running Extreme Obstacle Courses and Reading.
Rosie Lewis - Cover Supervisor
I graduated from university in 2013, and since then I have been running a tuition service on Facebook called ‘Maths with Rosie’, with very rewarding results.
As an ‘all-rounder’ I enjoy covering every lesson, however my favourite part of the role is supervising and supporting students in Internal Exclusion.
I became certain that Secondary Education was my passion, whilst helping the teenage daughter of a lady at a women’s refuge, who was temporarily missing school.
When I’m not busy decorating my new flat or helping my Grandmother, I enjoy volunteering at events for HVDV.
Sophie Shell - Cover Supervisor
I started working here in April 2014. My previous jobs include working as a personal trainer, aerobics instructor and post woman. I live in Trowbridge with my Cockapoo called Wilson. I have 5 brothers and sisters and am originally from Bath. I like spending time with my friends and family. I really enjoy being a Cover Supervisor at M.O.C.S as I get to work with all the year groups and get to help in a variety of different subjects. In my spare time I love to keep active and to go on holiday. Some lush places that I have travelled to include, Mexico, Florida, Egypt, Tunisia, Las Vegas, Ibiza, Croatia and once went of a cruise around the Mediterranean. My favourite day of the school year is Sports day. I work in a very close knit team here at M.O.C.S and they are always making me laugh.
