Nicky Keene - PA to Headteacher
My role is to provide a professional and confidential support service to the Head; it is a challenging, varied and extremely busy role but I love it. I am fortunate to have a job I enjoy immensely, working within a team of fantastic people in a super environment. As a community we are very lucky to have such state of the art facilities. The school is going from strength to strength and I am proud to be part of that journey.
Penny Boyce - Business Finance Manager
I trained as an accountant in The City but moved to Melksham to be able to afford to have children.
My job has expanded quite a bit since I first joined George Ward in 1998 – originally I dealt with School trips and Music Lessons, but now I arrange cover for staff absences, process orders and invoices for all the departments in the school and make sure overtime is paid. When in London I worked in some really unusual places (including Clarence House) but nowhere has been as special as Melksham Oak!
I love singing (with Melksham Choral Society), walking with my dog and exploring Britain in my little campervan.
Mandy Dixon - Finance Clerical Assistant
I joined the school in November 2014 having previously worked in Adult Education for 12 years, arranging wonderful courses as diverse as City & Guilds and the O.U to Basket Weaving, Silver Jewellery and Foraging for Mushrooms and Toadstools.
At MOCS I look after the School Lettings and Trips amongst other daily financial processes that need to be actioned. I’m always amazed when the final bell of the day rings, while I feel that only a few hours previously, the day had just started!
At home I enjoy cooking, entertaining, sewing and walking. I maintain 10,000 steps daily as part of my fitness regime.
Liz King - Exams Officer
I joined the school in June 2006 as a Data and Reporting clerk and took on the role of Exam officer in the summer of 2007. I am responsible for the administration and organisation of all aspects of the external and mock exams within school. The role is challenging, complex, sometimes confusing and pretty stressful at times. Each season brings something different and as soon as I heave a sigh of relief at the exams ending for one year it starts all over again. After the August results days the planning for the winter Mocks begins, then it’s the summer exam entries and I’m on the merry-go-round again. It keeps me busy and it’s rarely boring.
I live in a small village on the outskirts of Melksham with my 2 children and when I have some free time, I love socialising with friends and family.
Steff Leach - Data Manager
Carly Cheney - Data Administrator
I have recently joined the school as Data Administrator, my role here is varied and busy, so far no day has been anything like the day before which I love!
I love to go on holiday whether that’s a UK break to the seaside or a trip over on the Eurostar to Disneyland. When I am not at work I can found spending time and making lots of memories with my husband and son.
Mel Wright - Pupil Support
I have recently changed job roll to Pupil Support. I am looking forward getting to know the job properly and mostly I am looking forward to having more contact with the students and getting to know them better.
In my spare time, I love walking, up hills, through woodland, over brooks and streams, Brecon Beacons, Lake District, anywhere, I just love our English countryside.
Oh and I love good food and wine (yes especially wine J ).
Fran Clarke - Attendance Administrator
I joined the school in 1996 to work in Student Reception, in December 2015 I changed my role and now look after the schools attendance administration, which means a lot less contact with the Students and Parents, which I will miss. I am very happy with the new challenges I now face with my role as Attendance Administrator and look forward implementing the new Attendance Systems within the ATOM.
I live locally with my adorable Miniature Shnauzer, Macy. I have 2 grown up children. I enjoy reading, gardening, crafting, cooking and holidaying, preferably somewhere hot.
Val White - Reprographics
I first came to work in the school in 1993 to help out for six weeks in the Reprographics Department and I am still here! I worked for five years in the reprographics then in the general office as Receptionist for thirteen years.
Since moving to the new build I have moved back into the Reprographics Department again three days a week on a job share. My main role is to reproduce documents needed by all staff reproducing a wide range of documents e.g. all work sheets, booklets, letters, test papers, school prospectus, as economically as possible, keeping to deadlines. There is over 100 teaching staff in the school so I am usually kept very busy.
I have two children that have attended the school who are now in their thirties. On the days that I don’t work at school I work for my husband who has his own business. In my spare time I like to read, walk and meet up with my retired friends! I also have a niece and a granddaughter that I love looking after in the school holidays!
Tracey Harcombe - Receptionist
I joined the school in October 2015 as the Receptionist. Some of my previous roles have included working as an account manager for an insurance company, admin roles within the MOD and various retail positions. Although new to the role, I am enjoying the challenges it can offer. No two days are the same. It is a very busy environment and certainly makes the time go quickly!
Originally from Staffordshire, I spent most of my adult life in Portsmouth with a 3 year “holiday” in Gibraltar as my Husband served in the Royal Navy for 26 years. We moved to Melksham in 2011 with our 2 children, a rather rotund moggy called Misty, a “free range” rabbit called Rufus and a 15 year old goldfish!
In my spare time I enjoy travelling, eating out and curling up with a good book and a huge mug of tea! I am also a fan of Portsmouth Football Club (for my sins) and had the privilege of seeing them win the FA Cup at Wembley in 2008
